Vinnie Tortorich and co host Andy Schreiber talk strengthening one's lower body, and riding bicycles through sand on today's Wednesday edition of the Angriest Trainer podcast.

ANDY'S WORKOUT

  • Andy is trying to get abs so Vinnie went with Andy to help guide him on the best work outs to get abs
  • Andy wasn't doing any lower body (Vinnie thinks lower body is more important)
  • Working on lower body improves circulation 
  • Leg presses, Lunges, Leg curls all good to help one's lower body 
  • Use the smith machine -- Andy doesn't need to do free weight squats 
  • For lunges, one can use the wall to balance
  • Look down in front of you in the mirror to help your balance 
  • Leg presses (12-15 reps) 
  • Leg curls and leg extensions aren't important unless you are trying to get "bulgy" 

ANDY'S FALL

  • When Andy first starting using cleats to ride his bike, he had a fall
  • He lends it to not being accustomed to cleats along with going to fast on a windy, sandy road by the beach
  • Vinnie saw it happen -- he fell in slow motion 
  • For Andy, by the time he realized he would fall, it was too late 
  • If you think you will slip in sand, look up and keep going
